OP47 Bio(tm) Pot
"Dig Your Hands Through" Compost Bins
by Ball Horticultural Company; Island booths #1035 and #1041.
Ball Horticultural Company, a leading wholesale horticultural distributor in North America, supplies seed, plugs, plants and high-performance growing equipment and supplies to greenhouse growers.
The OP47 Bio Pot is "made from 100% renewable resources, this pot is completely biodegradable and compostable. This is the first bio pot to be produced using thermoform production in North America. It is manufactured in Akron, Ohio and is available for sale by Summit Plastic Company.
The OP47 Bio Pot, available in 4-inch and 6-inch sizes, will fit existing automated potting machinery and handles, ships and stores like any standard thermoform pot. "This unique product is the first of many that demonstrates our support for growers to adopt more sustainable growing practices," says Bill Doeckel, General Manager of Ball Innovations. Summit also produces PLA trays to fit both pot sizes. PLA, polylactic acid, is a sustainable material made from corn-starch, with a look and feel of petroleum-based plastic. The combination of these two products provides growers with a complete sustainable solution."
