Biophilia, What's That?

Organic, sustainable, environmentally friendly ... the trend is increasingly toward products and designs that meet these standards. It's a trend filled with opportunities for the horticulture industry. So how do you sell green? Join Dr. Bill Sadler of Bradfield Organics as he discusses how to successfully sell organic products. Following Dr. Sadler's discussion, Dr. Dale Ball, who sells green roofs based on a concept called biophilia, will talk about how to sell green design strategies to people who do not believe in green (hint ... it has to do with how much money "going green" can save them).  Lisa Grant with Dr. Earth will also discuss the importance of soil health.  Dr. Earth offers a range of organic soil and fertilizer products.

Dr. Dale Ball; Selling Green to People Who Don't Believe in Green

Sunday, January 9th; 11:30 - 12:30

How do you sell green roofs, green walls, stormwater management ideas, or other "green" designs to people who don't just want "green" for the sake of being "green?" Dale Ball with Biofilic will be explain why the "green" trends have more than just environmental benefits. He will explain an idea called biophilia. It's the idea that as we experience nature, we reap individual benefits - such as reduced stress. There is plenty of evidence supporting the idea that environments that have inspiration from nature help us to alleviate some of the stress that we deal with on a day to day basis. They can increase productivity, creativity, and satisfaction at work; ease the minds of our children creating an environment that they can thrive in, and give us just a little taste of the peace of mind that we crave.
